VALE JOHN WATTS
Very sadly we have to report the passing of John Watts of Sydney Tax Pack last week.  John was a dedicated Corporate Cup runner who began his career in series 6 way back in 1990.  Since then he had amassed 471 runs and was third on the all-time most runs list.  He had dropped out of the team for this series while he had a hip replacement, but had hoped to return to complete his 500 runs, such was his commitment to the competition.  Our thoughts are with John’s family and his team-mates – it was moving today to see all his team-mates setting off in a big group together in his memory.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
The warmer conditions for run 3 saw a decrease in the point scoring, even with the shorter course C being in play.  Only three teams broke the 100 point mark, again led by State Treasury with 172.  They were well clear of QBE Risky Runners on 116 and ANZ Incredibles on 105.  State Treasury have a commanding lead at the half way mark of the competition.  The total points scored in run 3 was 2,335.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Welcome to new team the Macquarie Generals who join the Corporate Cup for the first time this series.  Congratulations to Phil South of Ausgrid who completed his 400th run in run 1, becoming the 18th member of the 400 club.  It was also Phil’s 250th consecutive run, an outstanding record.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
The warm conditions and crowded waterfront saw very low point scoring in run 1.  No team managed to reach 100 points, with the top score being a mere 85 from State Treasury, closely followed by Telstra Tornados on 84.  Legal Eagles are in 3rd place with 65 points.  The total points scored in run 1 was 1,397.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
There was a very close match in the repechage section of the draw, with NRMA Insurance pipping Reserve Bank Midday Milers 38-37.  With quite a number of teams having every runner scoring only 1 point there were some very low scoring matches.  The lowest scoring saw Deutsche Springers go through in the knockout section with a score of just 12, beating BNP Flyers 12-9.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
