Series #93 – Run 4 – 20 Mar 2019 – Run No. 556

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Conditions were a bit humid but not too hot for run 4.  Having far more of an impact on the point scoring was the shortening of the already shorter course C, due to works going on in the Domain.  This led to an explosion of point scoring, with no less than 25 teams reaching the 100 point mark, and the total being double that for run 3.  Telstra Tornados led the way with 203 points, followed by Legal Eagles with 196 and State Treasury with 176.  State Treasury still have a big lead overall.  The total points scored in run 4 was 4,754.

VALE JOHN WATTS
Very sadly we have to report the passing of John Watts of Sydney Tax Pack last week.  John was a dedicated Corporate Cup runner who began his career in series 6 way back in 1990.  Since then he had amassed 471 runs and was third on the all-time most runs list.  He had dropped out of the team for this series while he had a hip replacement, but had hoped to return to complete his 500 runs, such was his commitment to the competition.  Our thoughts are with John’s family and his team-mates – it was moving today to see all his team-mates setting off in a big group together in his memory.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
The warmer conditions for run 3 saw a decrease in the point scoring, even with the shorter course C being in play.  Only three teams broke the 100 point mark, again led by State Treasury with 172.  They were well clear of QBE Risky Runners on 116 and ANZ Incredibles on 105.  State Treasury have a commanding lead at the half way mark of the competition.  The total points scored in run 3 was 2,335.
