Timing Equipment Details
At this stage Chris Stevenson and Wayne Simpson are transporting and storing the timing equipment. This remains suitable as long as Chris and Wayne continue to attend the Corporate Cup. Should circumstances change and arrangement cease then the timing equipment will need to be maintained by a committee member a team captain.
A summary of the procedures are as follows:
1. Transport to/from the event
The equipment needs to be housed at an office in the city for both battery charging purposes and for ease of transporting to/from the start/finish line. The timing equipment has its own trolley and ockey straps for transportation.
2. Charging of equipment
The timing equipment needs to be recharged prior to the next run. It requires at least 24 hours to be fully charged (the battery meter needs to be in the “GREEN” zone to ensure we have acceptable battery life for the full period of a Run – up to 2 hours)
3. Timing Mat
The timing mat is stored in our cupboard in the change room in the Domain. The mat is rolled out upside down and then flipped over before it is connected to the timing equipment. The mat needs to be stored rolled up evenly (so we don’t damage the cable that is attached to the bottom of it) and standing vertically (again so the cable isn’t compressed/damaged).
4. Recording of times
Recording of times is via a USB memory stick that is inserted into the USB port on the timing equipment. There are 3 USB sticks used for recording. The spare USB sticks are under the foam in the lid of the timing equipment. The USB will be taken (by the Handicapper) at the end of a run to extract the timing results from the file called TEXTDATA.TXT. Once the data has been copied from the USB it has to be renamed (e.g. S72R5 for Series 72 Run 5) as the next time that USB is used the timing equipment will create a file called TEXTDATA.TXT or if it already exists it will append the new results onto the end of the previous set of results. The Handicapper returns the USB at the next run.
