SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Our luck with the weather ran out in run 5, with persistent rain falling throughout the run.  It was mostly light, with a couple of brief heavier spells, but it was enough to deter many runners and the total score was the lowest of the series by quite a margin.  Reserve Bank Magic Milers had the top score with 79 points, followed by State Treasury with 70 and Macquarie Generals with 66.  The overall top three places remain unchanged and State Treasury now look to have the competition in the bag.  The total points scored in run 5 was 970.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
In the semi-finals State Treasury convincingly beat ABS Moving Averages 70-13 while in a closer match Mercernaries beat Rabobank Grasshoppers 64-47.
In run 6 State Treasury and Mercernaries will meet in the final and ABS Moving Averages and Rabobank Grasshoppers will play off for third place.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Reserve Bank Magic Milers racked up another top score with 5, just ahead of Legal Eagles with 4.  The Magic Milers’ overall win is pretty much secured.

Richard BANKS of Reserve Bank Magic Milers was fastest man with 23.35, while Ellen WATERMAN also of Reserve Bank Magic Milers was fastest woman (and in fact the ONLY fast woman) with 27:30.  There were just 17 fast runners in run 5, 16 males (13%) and 1 female (3%).

Reserve Bank Magic Milers and Commonwealth Bank Harriers 1 had the best turnout in run 6 with 10, followed by Reserve Bank Midday Milers with 9.  With BT Dominators slumping to just 7, it looks like they may have lost their chance to catch the Magic Milers.  The total turnout in run 5 was 149 counting runners, 119 males and 30 females.

Series #100 – Run 4 – 22 June 2022 – Run No. 598

GENERAL BUSINESS
Congratulations to Dennis Jolliffe of ABS Moving Averages, who completed his 500th Corporate Cup run in run 4.  Dennis is just the fourth person to reach this incredible milestone, following Damien Gay earlier in the series.  Dennis joined the Cup in series 1 and has never missed a series, and has a PB of 23:20, set in series 1 in just the fifth of his 500 runs.

It was another beautiful day for running for run 4 and the total score went close to the series best achieved in run 3.  State Treasury led the way with a big score of 171 points, well ahead of Rabobank Grasshoppers on 127 and ABS Moving Averages on 121.  It is BT Dominators’ turn to sneak into third place overall.  The total points scored in run 4 was 2,206.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
The top three scorers all featured in the knockout, and managed to avoid each other, and hence all won.  State Treasury beat Telstra Tornados 171-115, Rabobank Grasshoppers ended The Running Walkers run 127-59 and ABS Moving Averages beat Reserve Bank Magic Milers 121-101, while the final match was a close one, with Mercernaries beating Awesome Midday Pacers 53-48.
ABS Moving Averages and State Treasury will meet in one semi-final and Mercernaries and Rabobank Grasshoppers in the other.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Telstra Tornados are showing a bit of form in this competition, sharing the week’s top score of 6 with Reserve Bank Magic Milers, just ahead of Legal Eagles with 5.  The Magic Milers’ overall lead is looking unassailable.

BT Dominators had the best turnout in run 4 with 14, followed by Sydney Tax Pack with 13 and Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 12.  BT Dominators closed the gap to The Magic Milers to just 2 points with two rounds to go.  The total turnout in run 4 was 274 counting runners, the best of the series so far, 213 males and 61 females.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Conditions were excellent for run 3, sunny with a cool breeze, and we had our biggest total score of the series so far.  State Treasury and Reserve Bank Magic Milers again led the way, with State Treasury’s 155 points just pipping the Magic Milers’ 154.  Macquarie Nomads again had the third best score with 109 and sneak into third place overall.  The total points scored in run 3 was 2,296.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
There were more close matches in round 3, the tightest seeing Rabobank Grasshoppers pip Westpac Trotters 78-76.  In other close matches Awesome Midday Pacers beat Deutsche RBC Runners 41-32 and Telstra Tornados beat BT Dominators 100-92.  Newcomers The Running Walkers continued their run, beating JPM Jets 80-44.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Reserve Bank Magic Milers had another solid score of 8, ahead of Legal Eagles and Telstra Tornados with 6 each.  The Magic Milers now have what could be a winning break on the field.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Congratulations to Glenn GALLAGHER of Legal Eagles, who completed his 350th run, the 32nd runner to reach this milestone.

We had several reports of runners following incorrect routes at various points around the course – for team captains it is a crucial part of inducting a new runner that they fully understand the course.  A map of the current course is here.  A copy of this map is also displayed on the A-frame board at the run.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Contrary to the forecast, conditions were very pleasant for run 2, dry and sunny.  State Treasury and Reserve Bank Magic Milers were well out in front in the point scoring, with State Treasury scoring 156 and the Magic Milers 147.  Macquarie Nomads had the third best score with 99.  The total points scored in run 2 was 2,052.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
Two matches were decided by a single point in round 2.  In the battle of the newcomers, The Running Walkers beat DEITies 70-69, while Deutsche RBC Runners beat Team UBS 30-29.  Another close match saw Reserve Bank Midday Milers beat Veterans Affairs 79-72.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Reserve Bank Magic Milers continued their good form, again top scoring with 8, while Legal Eagles scored 6.  Telstra Tornados improved with 4.  The Magic Milers have opened up a 4 point lead overall.

GENERAL BUSINESS
The Corporate Cup has expanded from 36 to 40 teams for series 100.  We welcome back Suncorp, who return after missing series 99, and three new teams: a team from the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade named DEITies, and two teams from Walker Corporation named The Running Walkers and The Walking Weapons.

There were several notable milestones achieved in run 1.  Congratulations to Damien GAY of Reserve Bank Magic Milers, who became just the third person to reach the fantastic milestone of 500 runs.  Also Geoff O’SHEA of Westpac Harriers, who is on the comeback trail after some serious injuries, heroically completed the course to notch his 450th run and Ron HEGARTY of State Audit, also coming back from injury, completed his 250th.  Finally a special mention for Paul HENNESSY of Mercernaries, who completed his 50th run almost 25 years after completing his 49th!

Also a mention for Alex WHITWORTH of Legal Eagles, who completed his first run as an M80, taking 1:25 off the age group record with his time of 37:00.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
After a torrential downpour just before the start, conditions were quite good for running, being mainly dry during the event, although there were quite a few puddles to negotiate.  State Treasury led the point scoring with an outstanding 183 points, well clear of Reserve Bank Magic Milers on 135 and BT Dominators on 97.  The total points scored in run 1 was 1,586.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
We may have seen the biggest ever margin in the knockout, with State Treasury beating ASX All Xtraordinaries 183-2.  Being in the repechage section, ASX get another chance in round 2.  In the knockout section ANZ Invincibles were the lowest scoring winners, edging GrainCorp Weevils 3-2, while the four incoming teams were up against each other: newcomers DEITies pipped Suncorp 16-8 while The Running Walkers beat their colleagues The Walking Weapons 9-4.

Reserve Bank Magic Milers got off to a flier in run 1 with 9 fast runs.  As usual Legal Eagles are in hot pursuit with 7.

Series #99 – Run 6 – 13 April 2022 – Run No. 594

GENERAL BUSINESS

Congratulations to Paul Wright of Macquarie Generals, who completed his 400th run in run 6.  Paul joined the Corporate Cup in series 24 with QBE Risky Runners, and ran with them until series 96, before switching to Macquarie Generals.  His PB is 23:45.

Due to the current situation with COVID-19, there will NOT be a presentation for series 99 at this time.  Team Captains currently holding trophies will be contacted separately to arrange for their return and engraving.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
There were quite pleasant conditions for run 6, with the rain staying away.  Attendance was slightly down, with the Easter break imminent, but the point scoring held up quite well.  Domain Dashers top scored with an excellent 150 points, the biggest score of the series.  They were followed by Macquarie Nomads with 115 and ASIC – the Corporate Cops with 84.  Macquarie Nomads have taken out the overall title, holding off the fast finishing Domain Dashers by 35 points.  The total points scored in run 6 was 982.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
The knockout final featured two of the three top scoring teams of round 6, with Domain Dashers triumphing over ASIC – the Corporate Cops 150-84.  The third place playoff saw BT Dominators beat BNP Flyers 63-28.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Legal Eagles powered to the line with a top score of 5 in run 6, while no other team managed more than 2.  They take the overall title ahead of Reserve Bank Magic Milers and Telstra Tornados.

The winner of the Ron Coombs Memorial Trophy for the top point scorer of the opposite sex to the winner of the Garry Gould Memorial Trophy is Lucy DICKENS of PWC Fasttrack with 66 points.

CC AMATIL MOST IMPROVED TEAM
This competition ranks each team’s improvement in three areas over the last two series – point score, team representation and fast runs. As this is an encouragement award for teams who would not otherwise figure in the prize-giving, teams who win one of the other competitions are excluded from winning it.

The Most Improved Team Trophy for series 99 is won by King & Wood Mallesons.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Congratulations to Roland Stanmore of State Treasury, who completed his 350th run in run 5.  Roland is the 31st person to reach this milestone, having joined the Cup in series 32 back in 1998, and has a PB of 25:10.

The weather was mostly dry for run 5, with a couple of heavy but brief showers along the way.  There was another quite good attendance and we again had the highest point score of the series to date.  Domain Dashers again top scored with 83, just ahead of Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 81 and BT Dominators with 78.  Macquarie Nomads maintain the overall lead.  The total points scored in run 5 was 1,048.

There were two good matches in the semi-finals of the knockout.  Domain Dashers had a narrow win over BT Dominators 83-78, while newcomers ASIC – the Corporate Cops continued their dream run, beating BNP Flyers 76-57.  Domain Dashers and ASIC will meet in the final, while BT Dominators and BNP Flyers will play off for third place.

Legal Eagles responded to the challenge, top scoring with 6, just ahead of Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 5, and hold a two point lead going into the final run.

Reserve Bank Magic Milers had the best turnout in run 4 with 12 runners, followed by BT Dominators, Domain Dashers and State Treasury with 10 each.  Reserve Bank Magic Milers have jumped to the top of the table with a two point lead going into run 6.  The total turnout was 189 counting runners, 155 males and 34 females.

Series #99 – Run 4 – 23 March 2022 – Run No. 592

GENERAL BUSINESS
Congratulations to our timing guru Chris Stephenson, who notched his 450th run in run 4, only the 12th person to reach this elite milestone.  Chris was present in series 1 and boasts the impressive PB of 22:15, set back in series 21 in 1995.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Against the predictions, we had a dry day for run 4, with quite good conditions for running, and had our best attendance and highest point score of the series to date.  Domain Dashers again top scored with 103, ahead of Macquarie Nomads with 95 and Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 85, but Macquarie Nomads still hold a strong overall lead.  The total points scored in run 4 was 1,033.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
There were a couple of convincing wins in the knockout, with Domain Dashers beating Reserve Bank Midday Milers 103-13 and ASIC – the Corporate Cops beating Apra Running Regulators 38-9.  The other two matches were closer, with BT Dominators beating Mercernaries 55-43 and BNP Flyers beating Legal Eagles 71-60.

Domain Dashers will meet BT Dominators in one semi-final, while BNP Flyers and ASIC – the Corporate Cops will face off in the other.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Reserve Bank Magic Milers had the best score with 6, ahead of Legal Eagles with 5 and several teams with 2.  The Magic Milers closed the gap on Legal Eagles to one point – this one is going to the wire!

Newcomer Andrew HEYDEN of Mercernaries set a high bar in his very first run, recording the fastest male time with 21.55, while Sue DAVIS of Apra Running Regulators was fastest woman with 29.05.  There were 32 fast runners in run 4, 29 males (17%) and 3 females (7%).

Reserve Bank Magic Milers and BT Dominators both had excellent turnouts of 14 runners in run 4, closely followed by Macquarie Nomads with 13.  Macquarie Nomads retain the overall lead, but it remains very tight at the top.  The total turnout was 209 counting runners, 167 males and 42 females.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
The predicted “rain bomb” did not eventuate and runners enjoyed light rain and mild temperatures and, while numbers were down, average scores were up.  Domain Dashers kept up their good form, top scoring with 118.  They were followed by Macquarie Nomads with 97 and PWC Fasttrack with 47.  Macquarie Nomads maintain a substantial overall lead.  The total points scored in run 3 was 687.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
The top two teams met in the knockout, with Domain Dashers pulling off an upset win in the battle of the heavyweights, beating Macquarie Nomads 118-97, while newcomers ASIC – the Corporate Cops continued their run, beating Commonwealth Bank Harriers 1 26-10.  The lowest scoring match saw Apra Running Regulators beat ASX All Xtraordinaries 1-0 – a bouquet for the one Apra runner who completed the course, and a brickbat for the one ASX runner who ran, but sadly did not have their chip with them.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Legal Eagles again had the best score with 4, followed by Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 3 and Telstra Tornados with 2.  Legal Eagles inch further ahead of the Magic Milers overall.

Richard BANKS of Reserve Bank Magic Milers was fastest man with 23.35, while newcomer Ali WILSON of Deutsche RBC Runners was fastest woman with 25.50, over two minutes clear of the field.  There were 19 fast runners in run 3, 14 males (14%) and 5 females (22%).

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
A beautiful summer’s day saw a big increase in turnout, but the warm weather made points harder to come by.  Macquarie Nomads again had the top score, with 101, followed by Domain Dashers with 75 and Reserve Bank Midday Milers with 65.  Macquarie Nomads extend their overall lead, while Domain Dashers leapfrog the Magic Milers into 2nd place.  The total points scored in run 2 was 859.

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
There were some very close matches in round 2, none more so than the one which saw Apra Running Regulators beat Team UBS 3-2, while another low scoring match saw MBA Yield Chasers beat GrainCorp Weevils 3-1 and another close encounter saw BT Dominators beat Sydney Tax Pack 17-13.  ASIC – the Corporate Cops had a comfortable win in their three-way tie 21-1-0.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Legal Eagles had the best score in round 2 with 5, followed by Reserve Bank Magic Milers and Telstra Tornados with 3 apiece.  Legal Eagles leapfrog the Magic Milers into top spot overall.
