Series 96 run 1 newsletter

Series #96 – Run 1 – 12 February 2020 – Run No. 571

GENERAL BUSINESS
After a week’s delay following the postponement of run 1 from the originally scheduled date due to works in the Domain, we had our first look at our new alternate course.  This course change has been necessitated by the expansion of the Art Gallery into the area of our turn-around loop, which is expected to take up to three years to complete.

Feedback on the new route was generally positive, although a few runners admitted to having not paid enough attention to the new course map before setting out and consequently took some wrong turns.

We also welcomed two new teams to the competition – MetLife and the Domain Dashers.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Conditions were very humid, and point scoring was correspondingly low, despite a big turnout.  Only two teams managed to reach the 100 points mark, State Treasury with 115 points and Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 110.  They were followed by Legal Eagles with 97.  The total points scored in run 1 was 1,984.

Team Run 1 Run 2 Run 3 Run 4 Run 5 Run 6 Total
State Treasury 115   115
Reserve Bank Magic Milers 110   110
Legal Eagles 97   97

RABOBANK KNOCKOUT TROPHY
The top match in the knockout saw the two Macquarie teams go up against each other, with the Generals prevailing 58-30 over the Nomads.  The handicapper’s nightmare has struck, with Commonwealth Bank Harriers 2 and ASX All Ordinaries fighting out a 39-all draw in the knockout section – both teams will go through to a three-way tie in the second round.  Also in the knockout section was probably the lowest scoring match in knockout history, with Team UBS defeating State Audit 9-7.  The two new teams went up against each other, with MetLife beating the Domain Dashers 24-11.

FASTEST TEAM COMPETITION
Legal Eagles led the way with 8 fast runs in run 1, closely followed by Reserve Bank Magic Milers and Telstra Tornados with 7.
